HSP and PBSA Host Responsible Research Fellowship Training Institute
On 25 – 27 September 2023, Health Security Partners (HSP) and the Pakistan Biological Safety Organization (PBSA) hosted the “Responsible Research Fellowship Training Institute” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This workshop marked the beginning of a year-long Fellowship program, where a cohort of Pakistani life-sciences researchers will strengthen institutional and individual oversight of biological research. During the 3-Day workshop, Fellows were trained on topics such as bioethics, know-your-collaborator (KYC), cyberbiosecurity, and dual-use research of concern (DURC). Following this workshop, the Fellows will participate in an 8-month virtual fellowship and undertake small grant projects to strengthen Institutional Biosafety Committees (IBCs) and implement responsible research best practices at their institutions. HSP is grateful for its partnership with PBSA, which made this workshop successful.
