Our Approach
Established in 2014, Health Security Partners (HSP) is a Washington DC-based nonprofit organization that is dedicated to strengthening health and technology security around the world. Through a vast network of experts and trusted multisectoral partnerships worldwide, HSP develops and implements targeted programs that advance institutions’ resilience, individual careers, and more broadly, partner countries’ ability to bolster economic and national security. Ultimately, our mission is to realize a stronger health and technology security future for all.

These three principles have been the foundation for our work since our founding and guide our mission every day. We leverage over 30 years of relationships with experts around the world to collaborate with partners and deliver impactful work on the ground. HSP has worked in more than 50 countries spanning Southeast Asia and the Pacific, the Americas, South and Central Asia, Eastern Europe, Middle East and North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. We also work closely with our funding agencies to advance shared goals in partner countries. We utilize a world-class interdisciplinary team of experts based in the United States and around the world to deliver technical assistance, training and mentorship for impactful health and technology security solutions that foster self-reliance. We employ resource adapted learning models developed and delivered in consultation with our widespread network of in-country partners.

Mentorship for Education
We employ a resource-adapted learning model to engage early-career and established professionals to foster local capacity and leadership.
We understand that sustained capacity of the workforce requires long-term, context-specific engagement that goes beyond one-time, one-size-fits-all training workshops. To that end, we work hand-in-hand with individuals to identify local challenges and develop collaborative solutions through long-term hands-on learning.
Our mentorship programs range from Fellowships for students and university faculty to technical capacity building in laboratories. We provide opportunities for individuals across disciplines (public health, agriculture/veterinary health, etc.) and sectors (ministries, NGOs, academic/research institutions).

We continue to foster these trusted relationships into the next generation of health security. Because we work in some of the most challenging and isolated parts of the world, diplomacy is not an abstract concept. Meaningful collaboration with local partners is critical. Our partners add local perspective, unique capabilities, and expertise to our work to ensure it is sustained over time.

Our expertise ranges from disease surveillance and biorisk management to providing opportunities to shape the next generation of health security leaders.

Grant Administration and Compliance
HSP delivers comprehensive financial management, compliance oversight, and grant administration services that ensure accountability, transparency, and responsible stewardship of funding. We partner with funding agencies to support the effective administration of grant-funded programs while maintaining full compliance with federal regulations, including U.S. Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), state requirements, and grantor policies. Our expertise includes implementing strong internal controls, monitoring financial and programmatic compliance and coordinating audits. From award through closeout, we provide reliable financial oversight that minimizes compliance and other risk and maximizes the impact of grant-funded initiatives through sound fiscal management and regulatory adherence.
